"Sfacciata fortuna". Luck and the holocaust

This book by the English critic Robert Gordon marks the launch of the "Lezioni Primo Levi", instituted by the new Centro Internazionale di studi Primo Levi in Turin, which aims to promote the work of this great Italian writer in the wider world.

In this first "Lezione", Gordon rereads Levi's ceuvre and other stories of the Shoah, in the light of traditional literary representations of Fortune and aspects of the modern scientific method; in order to uncover a new imagery of luck and chance, in the highly intense drama of the "probability" of survival in the Lager.
