Index of items of note in the world of science
All the lemmas concerned with the world of science in Primo Levi’s texts: procedures, machinery, chemical elements, reactions, and specialized terminology.
The index will indicate both how many times the lemmas occur in their basic meanings and how many time they occur figuratively. At present, no distinctions are being made between these two senses. Whenever a distinction or exception was pointed out, this was done explicitly inside the index in the introduction to the lemma in question. The word list was subdivided according to base words that group together the possible derived words. Whenever a base word was written between brackets, this means that this word by then had not been detected in the corpus but that words deriving from it have.
